I am grateful that families can be together forever. Just as a ring has no beginning and no end, our family can go on forever. We just have to do our part. We are not going to be automatically saved at the last day, no matter what. It depends upon our faithfulness to the commandments of God.
One of the boy's in my my Cub Scout Pack (who is also a friend of Nathan) just lost his mom suddenly in a car accident. She was 29 yrs old. She had been living with her boyfriend and had 2 kids by him. This boy, Matt, is her son from a previous man. The father of the two younger children, ages 4, and 2 months, is now left to raise the 2 children alone and doesn't know if he will get to keep Matt with his siblings or not. Having never married Matt's mother, he has no parental rights.
We went to the funeral on Monday (Nathan and I). It was done by a Catholic priest and the room was full of sadness. There was no music, there was no hope that this family could be together again. The priest kept praying for God to be merciful to Giselle (the mom) and accept her into His banquet. It was strange for me to be there. I've been to a few funerals in my days. I was very sad at my mother's funeral, but I knew that it was just temporary sadness. This family doesn't know that. What a wonderful thing it is to know, REALLY know, that our family can be together forever if we do the things which are required of us. We make covenants with God and He will keep His end of the bargain if we keep ours.

That is a wonderful blessing!
It is sad that this has happened and would be easier to help with had they been married. It's too bad that so many people these days don't feel it necessary to GET married.
Oh that's just tragic that she left before she could know the truth of what we know.
There is always hope but what a difficult thing for this man to deal with now. I wish the best for them!
I'm so thankful to also have the knowledge that our sorrows are temporary. My husband just got the call tonight that an old friend and coworker died suddenly of a heart attack at age 45. We just never know when we will be finished here.
It is a great comfort to know that our family can be forever. That is very sad about Nathan's friend. Knowledge of the gospel can change so many things. If only people knew.
So sad for this family. How unfortunate that they don't have the comfort of the gospel too!
Great reminder of how blessed we are to have this knowledge!
