In Utah, insurance companies don't cover therapy for Autism. We would love to get Marshall more help but the insurance company won't pay for it. Unfortunately, we can't afford insurance so we have Medicaid for Marshall. Medicaid denied feeding therapy, claiming it was not "medically necessary". HUH?! The boy won't eat. How is that not medically necessary.
Anyway, watch this video about Clay's Law. It's a Senate Bill that will require insurance companies to cover autistic children.

This is a Utah Bill. Lots of other states already have similar things. It really irks me that insurance companies don't have to pay for ANYTHING if the child has a diagnosis of Autism. My bishop has a son who has been diagnosed and no insurance company will cover him for anything!! That is wrong.
I sure hope this bill passes. Being a parent of an autistic child is not an easy task! My Zacky was almost diagnosed with autism.....then they ruled it out and tried for ashburgers (sp?).... later on was diagnosed with severe learning disabilities. I had NO idea that insurances wouldn't cover autistic children....and i think its so messed up!! Please keep us informed on wether the bill passes or not....
